WIFI Multiroom Vintage Radio
Sought after art-deco radio equipped with a 100W stereo class D amplifier and two neodimium magnet speakers for a high quality stereo sound.
A digital filtering allows to obtain a very flat response curve, for a balanced sound. Particular attention has been paid to the bass: the bass is dynamic (its level is increased at low volume) and a switch activates the Superbass function to give more weight to the bass according to the taste of the listener and the type of music.

The device also features noise filters to suppress electronic noise from the WIFI card and electrical activity in the room.
Its WIFI module will allow you to stream audio from music platforms and radio stations with much better sound quality than Bluetooth. Technical possibilities are rapidly evolving and we are dedicated to making our vintage devices effective tools to take advantage of them!

WIFI connectivity also opens up the possibility of synchronous wireless streaming to multiple devices (multi-room). If you buy a second device (radio, WIFI record player or WIFI speaker), one could play the left track and the other the right, or one could play your music in the living room and the other in the kitchen. We also sell a WIFI adaptor that converts your audio system into a WIFI speaker via a simple jack plug.

The device is also equipped with a Bluetooth connectivity to broadcast tracks stored on your phone (MP3 ...) or sound directly from the Internet (Youtube ...).

Case condition
It has been carefully renovated, but retains memories of the passage of time:
- some minor scratches on the case
- the dial glass is original so has sighs of its age with spots on the mirrored finish and a few chips on the paint
- two chipped areas on the radio base near the logo and on the front panel
- at top left, a tiny, barely perceptible notch
In other words, this radio is in excellent condition for its very old age, as the pictures show!
History of the radio
The Nouvelle Société de Radiophonie S.N.R. (63 rue du Faubourg-Poissonière, Paris IXe) was born in 1935 and produced radios until 1961. Its first models, small and unadorned, were adapted to the context of the crisis of the time, but SNR quickly evolved towards bakelite radios to keep up with the other manufacturers. The competition raged after World War II, and the design team began to search for a signature that would set them apart. New, more modern models, made of metal and inspired by Art Deco, came out of the factories in 1947. The success was very fast.
The Excelsior is an icon of the Art Deco period, and the fact that it was only produced for two years makes it one of the most difficult radios to find.
During the visit of a Soviet diplomat to Paris in 1952, France offered an Excelsior 52 which, when brought back to Moscow, served as a model for a series of exact copies (except for a badge with the hammer and sickle), which were produced until 1955.
We don't know how SNR came from being so successful to shutting down in 1961. If you have any information on this subject, please tell us !
