History of the radio
This radio is an American rare Art Deco Classic. The Junior was Philco's first model they called the Mini-cathedral. This model was to appeal to a niche market at the time for small and lower cost radios. 1931 was still a few year before the Great Depression so the economy was still optimistic although slowing. Philco decided what was needed was a lower cost radio to draw customers in. The plan then was to try and sell one of their higher cost radios. This plan failed for the Junior out sold every other model and was the successful start of Philco's B model radios ( 84B, 89B & 60B).
